What Golfers Say

"Things are going really well. The good shots are outnumbering the bad, significantly! The belief in my swing that you discussed has really helped. Thanks so much!" - Stu B

Go for a climb at Green Hill Golf Course in Worcester, MA.

Fantastically challenging slopes and pitches throughout the golf course will keep your attention at Green Hill Golf Course in Worcester, MA. A well-maintained municipal golf course run by the city of Worcester.

Overall the golf course features only a couple of forced carries. There are plenty of blind tee shots and second shots because of the golf course's change in elevation. The low runner is a great shot to play off the slopes. However, with the hills' steepness, it can quickly get away from players that run the ball up to the green. Longer hitters will have it a bit easier as the greens are receptive to higher shots, allowing them to move off the slopes but remain on the greens.

Green Hill is a golf course played best by those that know the golf course, having played the golf course helps tremendously. There are plenty of areas that golfers should know about before attempting a shot and plenty of holes where understanding what the slope will do to the ball after it lands will keep golfers from putting up big numbers. The most significant resistance to scoring low golfers will face is the land itself. The golf course's most prominent feature is the hill and how the golf course moves around and over it.

While there are not many penalty areas, the slopes can take wayward shots even farther down the hills' sides. Bunkers provide a bit of relief from balls running away from fairways. However, most are next to the greens, and unless a flag is near them, it will not provide welcome relief from uneven, sidehill lies.

This is a golf course that will challenge the most avid walkers. The front nine slowly works its way down to the body of water situated next to the ninth hole, then the back nine rises and falls as it goes away and comes back to the water.

The golf course remains in great shape as the summer comes and goes. The greenness and lack of burnt-out areas will leave golfers will decent lies far from their own fairways. The greens were running fast and smooth, even with the amount of play this course receives daily.

Players will enjoy the change in elevation during the round and the scoreable holes that provide risk-reward scenarios. There is plenty of length here to have a golfer use most of their bag from the back tees.

Green Hill has a relatively new hole added to replace the golf hole removed to make room for the driving range. The par 4, 17th hole is a short par 4 that bends from left to right. It also provides a second look at the surrounding Worcester area from one of the highest points on the back nine.

Conditions: Conditions are green, with fast and smooth greens.

Difficulty: The walk and the uneven lies will provide much of the challenge while playing here.

Practice Green: There are two practice greens. One is located near the clubhouse while the other is next to the practice range.

Value: Excellent value to walk the golf course for $45 or less.

Range: Yes, there is a new range that was constructed.

Wear a hard hat: As with most Munis, the course uses trees to separate holes and provide cover from errant shots. Keep one by your side.
