The front nine features the rolling hills and gently undulating greens of Ellington. It seems to welcome players with spacious landing areas and shorter par 4s. While the back nine demands accuracy as fairways are narrowed by towering trees. The longer par 4s on the back nine help this course stretch to almost 7,000 yards from the back tees.

Resistance to scoring grows as the difficulty grows from the front nine to the back nine. The course’s ideal lines to the holes become smaller and straighter. The back nine also has some of the more spectacular views at Rolling Meadows of the area. From the 12th and 13th holes, there are almost 180-degree views of the Berkshire mountain range, which rises in the distance. There are also pleasant views of the golf course within the golf course. On the 8th hole, there are three viewable holes from the tee box that adds nicely to the ambiance of playing rolling meadows.
