I have many great memories from this golf course from when I was a kid learning the game of golf. All the memories of all the rounds that led to learning the golf swing, creating new shots, and improving the different shots flooded my mind when I stepped on the first tee. Having the chance to go back and play the course I grew up playing had an almost unreal feeling. For instance, remembering how to hit that slight fade to the bottom of a hill to surpass your furthest drive. You also notice all the changes, including new tee boxes that make a hole play differently, to trees that were removed that now makes a hole play easier.
When I started playing at the course, the greens were browns, and fairways had more crabgrass than bentgrass. Now the golf course is greener than I ever remembered. This has increased the playability of the course from misses and making recoverability a bit easier when the ball misses the greens or fairways.
PGC offers a mix of challenging shots to go along with a good layout that makes it an easy walk, even in the hottest weather. There are a few fairway bunkers, and most greens have at least one bunker guarding it. There is also some water on the course from small ponds to a stream that runs through the course. They changed the layout back to its original plan as the current 9th hole is a much better finishing hole, which I enjoyed. They have also cleared some areas that have led to more grass to grow and added a new tee box to the par 3, 3rd hole, and par 4, 7th hole.
Patriot Golf Course recently opened its gates to the public. The rates to play 9 or 18 are low, providing some great value to the public. To play the course, it is only $21 for 9 holes or $30 for 18 holes.
Conditions: The conditions were much improved. The greens were running smooth, and the fairways were getting tighter. Difficulty: This is not a tight track, but there are some challenging shots on the course that make it a fun course to play. Practice Green: The practice green was extended to include a pitching area. The green itself is very similar to the rest of the course. Value: At $21 for 9 holes or $30 for 18, the cost to play here is exceptional. Range: There is a range that is $5 for about 35-40 balls, and you can now hit your woods at the range. Wear a hard-hat: There are a couple places that you have to be careful about.
